Cooling structures and lightweight mold (Protype)
• Objective: To investigate how the most optimal cooling structures and weight-saving structures can be created in a 3D printed injection mold.
• Approach: literature study on cooling, force analysis of injection mold using FEM, redesign mold with improved cooling and lightweight structures, mold production by means of 3D metal printing,
• Result: 3D printed lightweight mold with improved cooling structures
• Profit for the company: Insight into possibilities to apply improved cooling structures and weight-saving structures in a 3D printed injection mold.
